British Council Nepal would like to invite qualified candidates for the following position.

  • Name Of Post = Temporary Arts Assistant = Number Of Vacancies = N/A


  • Communicating and Influencing: Is creative and adaptable in communications; able to use a range of non-standard and creative approaches to inform, and persuade others, extending beyond logical argument to influence decisions and actions in a way which is inclusive and engaging
  • To be able to work and communicate remotely making use of digital communication tools is integral. The British Council makes use of Microsoft Teams as the primary communication and project management platform with additional Office applications.
  •  Planning and Organising: Is methodical; able to plan own work over short timescales for routine or familiar tasks and processes
  • Art Understanding and related skills: Is acquainted with art forms, media and history. Basic knowledge of graphic designing and photography/videography will be an added advantage.
  •  The Arts team delivers a range of original multi-media content throughout the year. Our preferred candidate should have an interest in arts, writing and in culture and development.
  • Support in the communication of Arts programmes and activities by working with the Communications Team.


The British Council’s work in arts creates new relationships between artists, organisations and audiences to develop stronger creative sectors around the world. We help artists to break new grounds, support creativity and innovation, increase capacity by building skills to support livelihoods and cultural enterprise, extend safe spaces for creative exchange and contribute to research and policy.

  • Cultural Exchange: UK’s Arts, Culture and Creative sectors are connected to audiences and stakeholders
  • Creative Economy: The Arts, Culture and Creative economies in the UK and in Nepal increase their economic value
  • Response to Global Challenges: Communities and societies internationally benefit from an environment and ecosystem which encourages creative expression, contributes to the development of social and cultural capital, promotes cultural diversity and protects cultural heritage

In Nepal, our activities align with regional focus areas and are delivered through the following programmes:

  1. Inclusion:  We plan and implement programmes that promote equality, diversity and inclusion in the arts and society particularly focusing on the inclusion of women/girls and gender minorities, disabled people, and marginalised groups.
  2. Heritage: Work to promote heritage and culture in Nepal and the UK
  3.  Creative Economy: We mobilise UK expertise to help realize a strong cultural enterprise in Nepal, including work in the crafts and heritage sector
