The UNESCO Office in Kathmandu was established in 1998. Since then, the Office has grown into an established programme and advocacy agency in UNESCO’s fields of competence, namely education, sciences, culture, communication and information, with the aim to contributing to building peace, alleviating poverty, and fostering sustainable development and intercultural dialogue.

Education Qualification

National Communication Officer Post

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or another related field; postgraduate degree in is an asset.

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of five years of relevant writing professional work experience in communication, print and broadcast media, interactive digital media or in communications and press departments, preferably in the context of development cooperation.
  • Demonstrated command of writing and editing and the development of media and/or communication materials.

LANGUAGES

  • Excellent written and spoken Nepalese.
  • Excellent written and spoken English

National Programme Officer Post

EDUCATION

Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in the field of ecological or earth sciences, basic sciences, environmental or water resources or in other natural sciences and engineering fields.

WORK EXPERIENCE

A minimum of four years of progressively responsible relevant experience in the field of ecological or earth sciences, basic science, environmental or water resources or related natural sciences fields.

Experience in developing partnerships and resource mobilization.

LANGUAGES

  • Excellent written and spoken Nepalese.
  • Excellent written and spoken English
